Photography

An essential part of Spaceship’s brand identity, photography is one of the most powerful tools for conveying messages, emotions, and stories.

Hero Image

Our imagery aims to unite two worlds: the ever-so-real user experience and the intangible and extraordinary digital universe.

The digital universe

We create imagery with surrealistic atmospheres and high-impact lighting to represent the user and their digital universe — a staged reality that blends physical and non-physical attributes. We use simple photographic elements like light and color to challenge the boundary between reality and abstraction, visually transporting audiences to unknown realms.

Human-centred

A human presence must be at the core of each scene, an anchor allowing users to relate and feel represented in more abstract contexts. Light highlights key elements and creates contrast, while color evokes emotion, enhancing engagement and discovery.

Light environments

Light is the main tool for shaping surreal spaces, blurring the line between reality and abstraction while creating mystery and depth. It also helps us explore the digital landscape — using visual metaphors to represent digital products and capture the user’s perspective when interacting with devices.

Devices

Devices are the means by which the user connects with our products. Clean and elegant photos of devices allow for more specific, tangible, and cohesive communication with our audience.

The real world

Our users’ lives, projects, and passions are our greatest inspiration, and Spaceship exists to help make their dreams a reality. To reflect this, our  photographs balance realism and empowerment while  inspiring curiosity. Natural light, shadow play, and shallow depth of field help achieve a visually engaging result.

Guidance

When choosing photos to illustrate any particular project, we must avoid overused clichés.

Do not use digital and code reference compositions.

Do not use 3D-generated component representations.

Do not choose messy and cluttered environments or compositions.

Do not use images with exaggerated expressions.

Do not use unnatural and staged compositions and interactions.

Do not use staged and overused themes.
